Readily available clean water still remains a major problem for far too many people. In an effort to help this crisis, ParrisWhittaker has made a sizable donation to Thirst Project.
“It’s estimated that 785 million people don’t have access to at least basic water services, and more than 884 million people don’t have safe water to drink. This is, without a doubt, one of the biggest human crises our society is facing today,” said Arthur K. Parris, founding partner of ParrisWhittaker.
“Communities in impoverished African nations struggle the most, which is why we are incredibly proud to support Thirst Project and their tireless team.”
ParrisWhittaker’s donation will help to build a desperately needed water tank in The Kingdom of eSwatini, a small country in southern Africa that struggles with the single highest HIV/AIDS population density in the world. Water plays an incredibly critical role in effectively treating or managing AIDS.
Thirst Project has made a bold commitment to provide access to safe and clean drinking water to all people in the country and they are working closely with the local Government to reach 100% coverage.
“We were faced with a mini-crisis in Freeport after Hurricane Dorian and we faced not having portable water. That was truly eye-opening. We can only imagine what these people are going through, not having such facilities for clean drinking water at all,” said Jacy Whittaker, Partner.
“We are so inspired by the Thirst Project team and the work that they do. They are the world’s largest youth water organization, and their incredible work has already helped over 500,000 people in 13 countries around the world.”
About The Thirst Project
Thirst Project is a nonprofit organization that works with the support of young people to END the global water crisis by building freshwater wells in developing communities that need safe, clean drinking water. Why Water? Health and Sanitation: Waterborne diseases are responsible for more easily
preventable young deaths a year than HIV, Malaria, and all world violence combined. Small children typically do not have strong enough immune systems to fight diseases like cholera, dysentery, or schistosomiasis.
